I hope Liev doesn't suck tonight. I was really disappointed with him in the last episode. I'm a fan, and I know he can do better.

I also felt the writers did a lazy job. It seems like they just gave him Grissom's lines and didn't bother to make a new character.

I'm hoping they prove me wrong tonight.

I missed the beginning, and have no idea what on earth they're being so secretive about. Care to clear the air?

Nick is the ONE good thing in this episode!

I hope Grissom is really annoyed when he gets back because this is bull. Catherine of completely going against everything Grissom has taught them. They are taking a shortcut instead of just following the evidence.

This is pissing me off :/

i cant decide how i felt about that episode. i think i liked it, but i feel like i need someone to write an opinion for me so i can agree with it. it got a little rushed after the plan failed. warrick and greg were wicked hot so either way it wasn't a total loss.

That is kind of where I am with. Interesting episode. Seems like yeah! Possibility of going darker, which CSI does so much better than Law and Order. On the other hand, I don't trust TPTB.

There was GSR stuff which reaffirms that which was also yeah good. Sara wasn't relegated to just being in a scene with Grissom that last five seconds... which happened in a couple of episodes this season which was total head desking. The writers also seemed to remember that Sara had gotten into trouble before for shooting off her mouth in front of others for Sara... and Sara is moody but more settled. So more yeah! Sara's comment on honesty is intruiging. On the other hand, what was the deal with the cocoon? Was it supposed to have some deeper meaning like Grissom is going through the change he needs and will come back to her? Or am I over thinking it? So confusing and lack of trust in TPTB in doing that.

Catherine seemed to be steam rolled over by people... willingly by not putting up a fight by abdicating all responsibility. Sure, it made for an interesting story line but it makes Catherine look coniving in not a pretty way. She doesn't mention Grissom and she should remember that she is only in charge temporarily. We didn't see any "What would Gil think?" moments out of her and that should cross her mind, especially considering that she has told Grissom repeatedly to politic more. And why the hell is she putting herself so out there for this new guy? Why hasn't she investigated his background more? That is boggling considering that Hodges made comments that bets were going on about him being IAB.

I like Nick in this episode. He seems to show that spine that Grissom thought he lacked. He did it because it was the right thing, rather than out of a need to please people. He also took it outside and took a risk.

Greg? I have no clue what to think about Greg. He was really quiet and you'd think he might be worried with oh that civil trial on going. (Did the writers forget that?) It would be really problematic for that sort of thing to come out for him if that happened... and then he seemed all Catherine cuddly when he found out. If anyone shipped Catherine/Greg, that might be good... but I just get the feeling TPTB don't know what to do with Greg now. It feels like the post Nick in the box segment. I'm bothered.

Warrick's line at the end was ... annoying. It felt totally unresolved. He seemed more annoyed professionally throughout the episode until that time. If the comment was more to himself than to Nick, I might buy it. Catherine's treatment of him was less than professional. Considering their unresolved issues, that he knows about, that can't be an easy situation. Yo!Bling has as many issues as Geek Love and maybe TPTB saw that? I doubt it... but meh. Possibly. If the comment was to Nick and he meant it to Nick because he got over it, ouch. Warrick not being moodier over that seems out of character.

I hate Keppler. I don't think they are giving him Gil's lines. I think they are giving him lines like Horatio with the attitude of the guy from CSI:NY. Not happy there. That he doesn't fit in makes me happy but he really seems to have set out to alienate people. It almost seems like he has to be an IAB plant... but I've heard no spoilers in regards to that so it feels like TPTB creating an enigmatic character for that sake. Honestly, I feel like the show would have been better with out bringing in a new character to "fill Grissom's shoes." They have a large enough cast to manage. Hell, in theory, they basically did that with the split shifts... but the plots they use him in are intriguing and different from what they did before but I hate the drama that reminds me of CSI:Miami.

So I have good and bad and I have no clue how I feel about this episode.

What I don't understand is why they couldn't tell Sara, Greg, Nick and Warrick. I understand that too many people in on it would make it insecure, more likely to be leaked etc. But seriously, the trust the under-sherrif and don't trust the others.

I feel sorry for Cath. Poor woman would be much better off supervising where there wasn't such an attachment to her guys.

MKAY I HATE KEPPLER NOW.

And WHY does Cath continue to go out to eat with him? She doesn't do that with Grissom...ugh.

Rule Numero Uno - You dont betray the people you work with, especially when they trust you with their lives, even if said deception was only short-lived. Nick isnt gonna let that one go, no way.

I hope Keppler becomes the crime-scene-in-a-box. They need to wrap him and his fakey mysterious ass real fast. (Dont tell me what's up with him, I dont want spoilers.) But MAN, he makes me so frustrated. He's so unprofessional. AJHFJSDHFIHSDI.

GRISSOM!!! COME BACK!!! YOU'RE TWO EPI'S TOO LATE ALREADY!!!

and I thought the cocoon was kindof cute. Its so Grissom.

From: [identity profile] partly-bouncy.livejournal.com
Except she has gone out to eat with Grissom and has gone by his house uninvited on at least two occassions.

The relationship between Keppler and Grissom really isn't even that comparable. Grissom is Catherine's supervisor. Keppler is Catherine's subordinate. The power dynamics should be different and I have no idea what to make of it. Should there not be at least one comment like "Well, if this goes wrong, I'm your boss and my ass is on the line" or something like that?

I'm of GRISSOM COME BACK! and ECKLIE YOU JACKASS FOR HIRING SOMEONE! THEY DID NOT NEED SOME ONE!

This episode makes me dislike Catherine, she should have included them. I'm just all grr argh over it.

And I'm so heart broken, Warrick couldn't go to Brass awwwwwww... I think Brass shouldn't have been in on it, he just doesn't seem like the type to do anything like that.

Date: 2007-01-26 04:08 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] partly-bouncy.livejournal.com
Brass seemed like he was willing to let Keppler take the blame, was all for abdicating his own personal responsibility on this... which is different than whole heartedly supporting it. Catherine seemed to be doing that too.

What gets me is the WHY? WHY are these two otherwise jaded cynics doing this? Are they going to explain it in the next two episodes? Because otherwise, it is seriously out of character, in left field. And I still don't get why they even needed some one to "replace" Grissom for four episodes.

LJ just ate my first response.

Remember when Cath had balls?

Remember when she didn't care who threatened her with what, she did what she darned well wanted to, damn the consequences?

Remember when she stood up for herself?

Now she's all "Oooh. The undersherrif gave me a mean look. I can't speak up for myself or my team, else he might be even meaner." She's so not supervisor material.

I really want old Cath back.

And Kepplar? Low as heck blow man, making Hodges think it WAS IA, and Grissom knew all about it. That's more than covering your trail man, that's just being an ass.

I wish I'd been a CSI in the room when they were coming clean. I'd have said "Oh, Cath? Just one question. That little playhouse theater thing you guys were playing it, the one that lost you the trust of your team? How'd that work out for ya?"

I liked tonights episode too. I couldn't wait for Sara to open the box that I KNEW was from Grissom...about 3 weeks ago...but anyway.

It was sweet, she obviously looked pleased with it. But she also looked a bit bummed out that he didnt leave a love letter or something, but then her face changed again to understanding that "hey its grissom i'm talking about here".

I noted that he sent the package to her at the lab and not her house. I thought about this for a minute and then decided that logically I would send it to her at the lab as well because thats where she is all the time...at work.

The joke about "faking it" between Keppler and Catherine was hilarious.

Hodges was a riot... as usual.

I liked the moment between Warrick and Nick when that guy at the impound lot locked them out. "You wanna shoot our way in there?" :)

And then Super Dave's joke about the "dwarf sign" and the look on Sara's face. Priceless.

I was really happy w/this episode, better than last week. And next week looks even better. That umbrella .... woo!

& now the transcribed brand spanking new message from Kepplers answering machine!

"Hey Mikey, Frank. Missed you at the service. You didn't forget did you? Nah, you would'nt have forgot, not my Mikey.
Must be on a big case you can't take a couple days off to be with your family. You are my family Mikey, you know that.. Getting lonely back here kid, give me a ring."

when keppler says to catherine "if we do our jobs right and catch the bad guy, nobody's gonna remember the rest" and catherine says "i'll remember". maybe this suggests that she;s having some internal issues wrt her use of her body/sexuality to get answers in crimes? or (as she did here) taking a shortcut to get to the answer.

Things I liked:
-the team coming together to work it out (go team! minus Cath *sadface*)
-the inference that Baltimore cops are smarter/more observant than Philly cops. *laughs*

But damn, Keppler's gonna have to work to prevent them hating him now...
