I recently bought all of season one on DVD and watched it straight through on my two days off last week. And I've noticed so many things that I just wanted to get everyone's opinion.
*Grissom hardly makes those cute funny faces anymore. In season one he stuck out his tongue, did cheesy head bobs to Greg's music, and had the best facial expressions. Now he's more neutral, and way more serious.
*Greg's changed a lot. I think a really big part of it was his wanting to move up from DNA to CSI, which would probably require him to be a bit more serious. But we said goodbye to the goofy hair, crazy
t-shirts, and off the wall remarks. Except for two weeks ago when he had that whole skidmarks comment.
*Catherine's always been emotional and passionate about what she believes in. She's quick to speak without thinking, but she's also quick on her feet. But what happened to that hardcore attitude from season one when she was talking about king kong on cocaine and loved getting the exciting cases? I'm not saying she's boring now, but I think that Lindsay's sucking the life out of the poor woman. And it doesn't help that whenever there's a case about a kid close to Lindsay's age, Catherine gets that look on her face like 'that could have been my daughter'. It was interesting back before Lindsay was a juvinielle delinquent.
*Nick...oh Nick. I think he kind of has the right to be the most changed. In season one he'd only been accused of killing a hooker, right? (That was season one right? One or two) But after that it was alllll downhill for that boy. Crazy people waving guns in his face, a stalker, being buried alive...could we just leave this poor boy alone? And if all of those things weren't traumatic enough, now he's got that
moustache. I think Nick's like the Scully of CSI. He was a little too trusting, and a little too naive, but man as those seasons chug along and he gets personally involved a few more times, he slowly comes to realize that this stuff isn't going to go away any time soon.
*Sara, who I have to admit seems the less changed, doesn't do much for me as a character. It's good to see that she's toned down the obvious 'I want Grissom' vibes. I'm not slamming GSR because really, if that's what floats your boat go for it. It's just good to see that if something's going to happen, it will, and it won't be because Sara tried to talk Gil into it. (For all intents and purposes, I'm not a huge shipper of anyone. They all do their own thing very well, I think.)
*Warrick ran out and got married at the spur of the moment. I have to say...that was a shocker. But for someone who used to gamble, is it really that big of a risk? I know that for everyone who's a yo!blinger
the situation really, really sucks, but maybe we should give poor Tina a chance. And who knows? Maybe she won't stick around all that long anyway.
This isn't everything that I've noticed, just the obvious character stuff. And while I'm here, I want to pimp a new community. It's called
inside_tv_info. They do recaps of CSI, CSI:Miami and a few
other shows. There's also reviews, spoilers, and predictions for what could happen. It's updated every Thursday before CSI. So in other words, this Thursday will be the review and recap for "A Bullet Runs
Through it Part 2".

but I think that Lindsay's sucking the life out of the poor woman.
I'd have to respectfully disagree on that point. As time went on, it's as if she's forgotten that she has a daughter. In last night's re-run of Blood Drops, I thought it was unfair for Eddie to have her under CP's radar. Then as the seasons went on, her social life as opposed to her life as a parent has been showcased more and more. I mean...in the episode where the kid drowned in the carnival, you would think that the case would affect her to the point that she would go home and kiss Lindsey, thanking God that she was safe. But nooooo she heads off to boyfriend she met from crime scene #374 and opts for a makeout session with him instead. The only time we even get a hint of her being a mother is when she's reminded of that fact by some appropriate case she's working on.
*Sara, who I have to admit seems the less changed
I think she's changed the most. Actually, I think she's changed in the same way Grissom has. She went from upbeat and enthusiastic about her job, to more depressed and obsessed about her job.

Date: 2005-11-22 10:44 pm (UTC)Yeah, I've noticed that time and time again. I don't think you'd see Grissom calling a bunch of corpses 'assholes' today, like he did in the first episode. :P At least, that's what I think he called them. o_o

Date: 2005-11-22 10:51 pm (UTC)i watched the pilot when it aired, but only the second half. i never saw the first half until very recently (i swear i've caught just the second half about 5 times), and i was all O_O! when he said that. so uncharacteristic of him the way he is now.

Date: 2005-11-23 03:58 am (UTC)But yes, it doesn't account for the huge change. And I think, despite any complications, a hug was warranted at a moment like that. She was so freaked out I don't think she would have thought anything of it. Like when the lab blew up and he called her "honey", she didn't even notice.

Date: 2005-11-22 11:32 pm (UTC)Greg, I love both sides of him. But I do wish he would be a little sillier. Either way, I'm just happy he's on the show.

Date: 2005-11-23 06:08 am (UTC)I want my Greggo back! I feel like the fun has been drained away by the pressures of being a CSi, and by the removal of that last shred of innocence he had before seeing the dead ppl in the field. It makes me feel for him, but at the same time, get annoyed when he whines... Put that man in a lab coat and a showgirl hat, plz, and for the love of Brass, get him some hair gel! (Again, the personal growth thing, ok. I get it, I understand. IT doesn't mean I have to like it...)
Warrick has stayed cool and awesome. So woot! Married or not - meh. IT would only bother me if I was in the universe and had the chance to nab him myself. Like you said, the sudden nuptual isn't too out-there considering his past and his need of the "thrill." I can totally see them killing her off, because heaven forbid they not spend 3/4 the season devoted to character
emotional destruction and mutilationdevelopment.Nick...needs to get rid of the 'stache. And the writers need to stop making him the scapegoat of their 'omgweneedintenseplot' moments (though if this season is any measure, they've moved on to Brass - who has already suffered under their finger). He's a nice cowboy who just wants to help people. Good heavens, let him. And let him do it shirtless more often, plzthnx.
