Identity Crisis
I am reminded, and not in a good way, of an NBC show called Profiler. In that show, a brilliant serial killer called "Jack" returned again and again and again to torment the protagonist and her team of highly-trained professionals. He was always one step ahead of them, planting evidence, or whacking out potential witnesses before they could give out essential information, and so forth. Boring, repetitive stuff, really.
CSI dodged the "Jack" bullet, and just barely, with the recent return of Paul Millander. I was less than enthused to see that Grissom's Moriarty was scheduled to return, and even more underwhelmed by the resultant episode. It was more of the same thing, with the villain seemingly possessed of precognitive abilities (the better to thwart our heroes' efforts), and with the entire cast of the show, to a one, acting like a complete knob to service a faulty script.
I've had problems with the show this season, and "Identity Crisis" is emblematic of those problems. The characters have been dumbed down, unable to recognize even the sound of a car's power window without technical assistance, stripped of their thoughtfully constructed personalities and displaying little of the charm, wit, or flair that made them all so interesting to watch. And the script...ugh, the script. "Brilliant killer" triteness, cobbled together and barely functional. Predictable and oh, so dull.
The only high point was Millander's death at the end of the episode. That way, at least, we can be spared further hijinx with this character at the center of the action.

And then there's the whole thing with changing Grissom's b-day. Whatever.
It was an entertaining episode, as they tend to be. But there were some issues. *shrug* Hopefully they'll get better!
