I had the chance to interview David Rambo [writer for original CSI - (such episodes include "Post Mortem" "Kiss-Kiss,Bye-Bye" "Butterflied" "Swap Meet" "Who Shot Sherlock?" etc)] for my website Modern Day Sherlock.

He explains how he got on the show, how he got the concept for "Butterflied", he favorite episodes to write and some slight spoilers for episode #711. The interview can be found here.
