deejay435.livejournal.comI just watched an documentary, dated 2005, on TLC called "I Am My Own Twin." It was about, as you might guess, Chimerism. Basically, the show followed two women whom DNA testing "proved" were the mothers of their children, and the scientific investigations that followed.
During the wrap-up at the end, the lawyers and scientists interviewed asked "Can you imagine the confusion it would cause law enforcement officials, if a criminal possessed two different sets of DNA?" And I immediately told the TV screen that I didn't have to imagine that, and that they should have watched CSI last season to see how it might hurt an investigation."
It was an interesting documentary, did anyone else see it? It left me confused in a few places regarding the nature of Chimeras but I won't bore you all with my questions and speculations. I just thought it was cool that CSI addressed this very situation a year before this documentary was filmed.
edited to add: Darnit! The DNA testing proved they were NOT mothers of their children. Makes more sense now, doesn't it?
